Son Serra, Son Bauló, Aucanada, Es Bartolins… are some of the unspoilt beaches near Can Pere Rei that give their name to our apartments.

We wanted to pay tribute to the Parc Natural de Llevant and also to the unspoilt coastline of the municipality of Santa Margalida.

Can Pere Rei is located in a unique and strategic enclave. On the one hand it borders the municipality of Artà, where the Parc Natural de Llevant is located, and on the other with Santa Margalida, specifically with the coastal town of Son Serra de Marina.

Son Serra de Marina

Son Serra de Marina is a small fishing village belonging to the municipality of Santa Margalida which grew in the mid 20th century. It is characterised by its enormous tranquillity and for being one of the few unspoilt areas on the island of Mallorca.

In Son Serra de Marina there are no large hotels, nor are there any large infrastructures. On the contrary, in Son Serra de Marina time seems to stand still. The sunsets have a special light.

It is a favourite spot for lovers of surfing, waves and other water sports such as kite surfing.

Can Pere Rei is just a few minutes from the centre of Son Serra de Marina.

Son Real

The public estate of Son Real, in the municipality of Santa Margalida and 10 minutes by car from Can Pere Rei, consists of 395 public hectares.

Son Real offers beautiful routes near the sea, as well as unspoilt beaches, dunes and pre-Talayotic remains of incalculable heritage value (talayot Es Figueral, necropolis of Punta dels Fenicis,…).

In addition, some of the buildings on the estate date back to the Middle Ages, others were built in the early 20th century.

The Son Real estate is home to local animals such as sheep, black pigs, donkeys and peacocks. All of them are cared for and pampered on a daily basis.

The estate has four signposted itineraries that allow you to visit and enjoy the different natural and agricultural environments of Son Real.

Colònia de Sant Pere

The Colònia de Sant Pere, belonging to the municipality of Artà, is a small fishing village that still conserves the tranquillity and peaceful rhythm of those who work the sea with their hands.

It has a small but modern marina with its own sailing club, as well as numerous restaurants and unspoilt coves.

Betlem is a small and picturesque urbanisation that belongs to the centre of Colònia de Sant Pere. From here there are numerous routes to coves and to the mountains near Cap Farrutx.

Can Pere Rei is located just over ten minutes from Colònia de Sant Pere by car.

Restaurants

The proximity of Can Pere Rei to municipalities such as Artà, Alcúdia or the Son Serra de Marina area means that the possibility of enjoying a rich and varied gastronomy multiplies exponentially.

In Son Serra de Marina there is a wide range of bars and restaurants very close to the beach and also on the seafront and on the main avenue. These are places where you can enjoy fresh fish, rice dishes, paellas and grilled meats, all of which are of high quality. There are also pizzas and other menus for children.

In the centre of Artà there is also a wide range of gastronomic options. It is mainly centred on the main street of the town. Asian, Italian, typical Mallorcan food, fusion… All of these are possible in Artà.

The small fishing village of Colònia de Sant Pere, belonging to Artà, also offers a wide range of restaurants. Most of the restaurants with privileged views of the bay of Alcúdia offer quiet and peaceful lunches and dinners with specialities in fresh fish and seafood.

The area of Alcúdia, Port d’Alcúdia, Pollença and Port de Pollença offers all kinds of gastronomic possibilities with different price ranges. There is something for adults and also for children.

Parc Natural de Llevant

The Parc Natural de Llevant is one of the protected natural areas of the island of Mallorca. It covers an area of 1,671 hectares, including the highest peaks of the Serra de Llevant (Puig Morei at 564 metres and Puig des Porrassar at 491 metres).

In addition, the nature reserves of Cap Farrutx (municipality of Artà) and Cap des Freu (municipality of Capdpera) offer beautiful panoramic views of imposing coastal cliffs in the northern part of the peninsula of Llevant.

Access to the Parc Natural de Llevant is from the Artà road in the direction of the Betlem hermitage (MA-3333), turning right at kilometre 4.7. There are clear signs all along the route. Once you arrive, you will come across the Parc Natural information centre and its office (telephone +00 34 606 096 830).

In the Parc there are extensive olive, almond, fig and carob tree plantations, as well as refuges (s’Alzina, els Oguers and s’Arenalet). The public estates of Albarca, Es Verger and s’Alqueria Vella make up the entire Parc Natural de Llevant.

Supermarkets

As for daily supplies, in Son Serra de Marina there are small groceries or shops where you can buy basic products. In Artà, as well as grocery stores, there are also supermarkets, greengrocers and specialised butchers.

Can Picafort is the closest area to Can Pere Rei with a wide range of large, well-known shopping areas where you can buy everything from everyday products to all kinds of food (fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, bread, pasta…).

In the village of Santa Margalida there are also nice shops with local food products and several supermarkets. The same applies to the area of Alcúdia and Pollença, where it is relatively easy to buy food and basic products.

Pharmacies

The closest pharmacy to Can Pere Rei is the one in Son Serra de Marina, located at Carrer Olivera, 17.

In the centre of Santa Margalida there are two different pharmacies and in Can Picafort there are three others located in the streets Isabel Garau, 14; Passeig Colón, 96 and Passeig Colón 59A.

The coastal centre of Colònia de Sant Pere, belonging to the municipality of Artà and 10 minutes by car from Can Pere Rei, also has a small dispensary. In the centre of Artà there are also three different pharmacies.

Medical centres

In the Platges de Muro (15 minutes by car from Can Pere Rei) is the Juaneda Muro Hospital with 24-hour emergency service.

Areas such as Can Picafort, Artà and Santa Margalida have their own health centres.

Nearby beaches

The sandy area of Son Serra de Marina, totally unspoilt and open to the bay of Alcúdia (on the left) and towards the area of Cap Farrutx (on the right) invites you to take long walks and disconnect. The beach has a lifeguard service in the main area, near the car park.

In the municipality of Artà, numerous unspoilt beaches (smaller in size than Son Serra de Marina) far from the town centre still conserve the charm of wild nature. This is the case of Cala Torta and Cala Mitjana. In Colònia de Sant Pere, nudism can be practised in the area of Sa Canova.

Under the profile of Cap Farrutx, in Betlem, there are small idyllic coves with crystal clear water. Most of them can be reached on foot along a short route: Ca los Camps, Caló dels Ermitans, Na Clara or Cala Mata are some of them.

In the municipality of Capdera, sa Font de Sa Cala or Cala Agulla stand out, very close to the tourist resort of Cala Rajada. These beaches have lifeguard services and other water activities.

In the area of Platges de Muro, in the direction of Alcúdia and Port d’Alcúdia, a large sandy area continues to extend out into the bay of Alcúdia. It is a long beach which, like Son Serra de Marina, is very popular with water sports enthusiasts.

Markets

Every Tuesday and Saturday, from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm the Plaça de la Vila in Santa Margalida hosts the weekly market. A luxury opportunity to buy local natural products at very good prices directly from the producers. Fruits, vegetables, plants and some textile items can be purchased at this market.

In Can Picafort the market is held on Fridays in Isaac Peral street and a stretch of the promenade in the area of Son Bauló.

In the town of Artà the market is also held on Tuesdays at the same time. It is held in the centre of the town, in Carrer de Ciutat, Plaça Conqueridor and other adjacent streets. The Artà market is one of the most visited markets on the island.

In Alcúdia the weekly market is held on Tuesdays and Sundays. The presence of handicrafts also stands out.

The weekly market in Pollença, which is also one of the most visited markets in Mallorca, takes place on Sundays from 8.00 am to 1.30 pm. In the Plaça Major there are food products, handicrafts, textiles… and a great fondness for having a vermouth before lunch.

Children's entertainment

In Port d’Alcúdia there is a water park especially suitable for the youngest members of the family, Hidropark Alcudia. Located just 25 minutes by car from Can Pere Rei and with easy parking, they will be able to enjoy hours of fun.

We recommend visiting the Hidropark Alcudia website in advance to keep up to date with all its services, as well as to book tickets.

In addition, very close to Can Pere Rei, (just 5 minutes away) you will find the Rancho Grande facilities. In addition to the restaurant, they also have special activities for the whole family, themed excursions, as well as various animals and horse riding excursions.

Shops

Santa Margalida and Can Picafort have a wide range of shops, although in the central area of Artà, the boutiques stand out for their special charm and distinction.

Alcúdia and Port d’Alcúdia also offer a wide range of fashion shops of all kinds. From big brands to multi-brand shops offering more alternative products.
